Safety and Care

Please keep our rail trail safe and clean.

Follow these rules:

  • Stay on the right side and allow room for others to pass on the left.

  • Let others know when you are passing by saying “on the left” as you approach them.

  • This is a carry-in, carry-out trail: NO LITTERING

  • STOP at all road crossings.

  • No horses or motorized vehicles are permitted.

  • Electric mobility wheelchairs and Class 1 and 2 e-bikes are

    permitted. Class 3 e-bikes, electric scooters and hover boards are prohibited.

  • Bikers and skaters must yield to walkers.

  • No cutting or removing of vegetation.

  • Do not disturb or feed the wildlife.

  • Park in designated areas.

  • No alcoholic beverages, camping or fires allowed on the trail.

  • Keep all animals leashed. Clean up after them.

  • Stay on the trail and please be quiet near residences.

  • No hunting on the trail.

  • The trail is open from dawn to dusk.

Portable toilets are now open at the Millerton, Coleman Station, Amenia and Wassaic trailheads.

Enjoy the trail year-round.
